We are now using Twitter to keep people updated on our activities. Twitter is a new Internet service that is making a lot of waves. It doesn't cost anything, and it's interesting, useful, and fun. This page shows how you can use Twitter to keep track of us.
If all you want is to see our tweets, you can visit our home page. It has a constantly updated list of them. You can use the browser trick below to put a shortcut to our web site on your desktop.
Twitter Basics...
To be a full-fledged user of Twitter, do this:
First, visit www.twitter.com and set up an account. Then set yourself up to "follow" USSRankin (no spaces). To do so, click the "following" link and proceed from there.
Every time we post something new, it will appear in your Twitter account. When you sign onto Twitter, you'll see everything we've posted. It's a really great way to see what's going on with the Rankin.
Advanced...
A good way to access Twitter is through an icon on your desktop. Then all you have to do is double click it. Here's how:
Open Twitter in your browser (our example is for the Internet Explorer browser, but similar things should work with other ones).
Drag the Internet Explorer icon from the browser's address bar onto your desktop. Here's where it is...
![]() After you've dragged it, a new icon should appear on your desktop. It will look something like this...
![]() From then on, you can access Twitter by double clicking the new icon. You can see our postings by "following" USSRankin as described above.
